USPTO Increases Fees
USPTO fees will increase beginning on October 2, 2020. According to the Patent Office’s website, the new fee schedule will allow it to generate “sufficient multi-year revenue to recover the aggregate costs of maintaining USPTO patent-related operations and accomplishing the USPTO’s patent-related strategic goals.” The new fee schedule will also allow the Patent Office “to continue to enhance the quality of patent examinations, achieve optimal examination times, invest in modernizing patent information technology (IT) systems and infrastructure, and provide stability to USPTO operations, even in times of financial fluctuations.”
